This short animation from Public Health England (PHE) shows the screening tests offered during pregnancy and after your baby has been born.

Maternity ultrasound appointments will take place at 星空无限 for ?(at approximately 20 weeks). Some women will be recommended additional growth scans in the third trimester, these appointments can be done at 星空无限 or at our satellite clinics in Shaftesbury and Tidworth.

Screening

Screening tests are offered during pregnancy to try to find any health conditions that you or your baby may have.

The tests include; ultrasound scans and blood tests. These can help you make choices about care or treatment during pregnancy or after your baby is born.

Screening tests are used to find people at higher chance of a health condition. This means that they can get earlier, potentially more effective treatment, or make informed decisions about their health.

Whether or not to have each test is a personal choice and one which only you can make. You can discuss each test you are offered with health professionals and decide, based on your own circumstances, whether or not it is right for you. You can also change your mind at any stage.

Ultrasound Scanning

An ultrasound will be offered between 10 and 14 weeks into the pregnancy. This scan gives a clearer indication of your due date. The scan usually takes around 20 minutes.

A further is offered at around 20 weeks to check your baby’s development. In most cases the scan will show that your baby appears to be developing as expected, but sometimes a problem may be found/suspected and a referral to a fetal medicine unit might be made.

Scans will be offered more frequently if a multiple birth is expected or where required due to individual medical need. For more information on ultrasound scans, please .?

Please note that there are physical risks to safety when mobile young children are in closed dark rooms with scanning equipment and electrical hazards. In some cases, sonographers may be required to undertake an internal (transvaginal) scan to provide clearer imaging of maternal or fetal anatomy. This type of scan is intimate and may not be appropriate in the presence of young children. For this reason, children under the age of 16 will not be permitted into any ultrasound examinations or waiting areas.?
